Film Fund Luxembourg to back African, Haitian projects
Film Fund Luxembourg (FFL), the body through which the government supports audiovisual productions, is to back creative ventures in Haiti and sub-Saharan Africa.
The new fund is aimed at young authors, directors and producers, the organisation said on its website.
"The Film Fund Luxembourg," said Guy Daleiden, director of the Film Fund, "is very committed to French-language co-production, so it goes without saying cooperation with African countries – particularly those in sub-Saharan Africa – can lead to a cultural and artistic exchange."
The "dynamism of creation in the broadest sense" – cinema, audiovisual output and web content – will be promoted, according to the FFL.
Applications for funding will be judged by a committee and can be made through www.jeunecreationfrancophone.org.
For its first three years, the fund will be managed by Generation Films, a group based in Burkina Faso.
