Where to take your Valentine for dinner
It's that time of year to celebrate your love with that special person in your life.
Luxembourg is not short on fantastic restaurants to suit all pockets, but, in case you're still struggling find the right spot, we've put together a list of romantic dinner spots for you (and a place for the anti-valentine to try out too).
Privacy is paramount at Le Sud, with tables set apart so tête-à-tête diners won't be cheek by jowl with other couples. With the atmosphere of a theatre, one diner comments in a review that the kitchen is the stage where you can see your chef at work. T
he Valentine's Day menu offers foie gras, monkfish marinaded in curry and ginger with spinach, and a dessert entitled "Declaration of love". Wine pairings are also suggested, and take your credit card as this set menu comes at €140 per person.
Mu Luxembourg - Sofitel Le Grand Ducal
If you get tongue tied, take your loved one to Mu Luxembourg at the Sofitel Luxembourg Le Grand Ducal, as the stunning panoramic views of the city will leave you both speechless.
You can select sharing starters including sea bream ceviche and blue cheese croquettes, then try one of their steaks or a tuna filet "Calypso" style. For dessert the Charlotte Grand Ducal is a sumptuous layered chocolate biscuit, sponge and mousse creation.
La Pomme Cannelle/Amelys
A culinary institution in Luxembourg, chef Paul Fourier invites your taste buds to take a stroll through his authentic, innovative and tasty French cuisine. Colonial-style decor with warm colours provides the backdrop. The Valentine's evening menu includes foie gras, scallops and Iberian beef for €149. I
Le Bouquet Garni
Stone walls and a roaring fire make for a cosy, romantic setting at this City restaurant. A special four-course Valentine's menu, offers foie gras, ravioli filled with Breton langoustine and veal steak at €95.
Oro e Argento
For €90 per person you and your valentine can tuck into lobster risotto and veal in a seven course menu that is complemented by live music offering international songs at this well-known Kirchberg establishment.
Wooden floors, dark walls and nicely spaced tables give this restaurant a traditional cosy Italian ambience. The €55, three-course Valentine's menu includes scallop and scampi risotto and spaghetti with truffles.
The restaurant also hosts exhibitions by Artscape Contemporary Art Luxembourg.
The Michelin-starred restaurant that is consistently given high ratings for the quality of food, the wine list and the service. The owner Arnaud Magnier does not disappoint, with spectacular a la carte and tasting menus, and even though you might need a second mortgage to pay the bill, it will be a Valentine's day to remember.

This Place d'Armes Michelin-starred restaurant will speak volumes of how valuable your love is, especially as the spectacular six-course Valentine's menu will set you back €238. It includes caviar, lobster, truffle, foie gras, and you'll feel like a king and queen (or duke and duchess) sitting in the gold-leaf palatial dining room.

Outside the city
Ma Langue Sourit – Moutfort
A cosy, intimate setting with soft lighting, this restaurant also offers two Michelin stars, and staff who are attentive to just the right level. Chef Cyril Molard has lovingly created a seasonal menu, which changes regularly.
Elch – Bertrange
Wooden-beamed ceilings, wicker chairs and leather sofas (and a heated terrace), create a warm yet intimate chalet-style atmosphere. The Valentine's menu includes seafood, tuna, veal, pintade with vegan and vegetarian options (if you contact them in advance) for €79 a head.
A Guddesch – Mersch
A modern restaurant that is part of a traditional family farm, this year invites you to a cooking class on Valentine's evening, where Chef Gilbert Welter will help you prepare a four course meal to be consumed by candlelight. The price is €180 but includes wine, and all the food you will prepare.
EireLux – Howald
Still suffering from January's overdraft but still want to show your other half a good time. Don't worry, head to EireLux in Howald for a Valentine's Party, with two courses of hearty Irish fare for €30 followed by live music from the Spaceminers.
TWO6TWO – Strassen
Part of the Smets concept store in Strassen, this chic restaurant has plenty of space for privacy. Chef Baptiste Heugens offers sea bass, black Angus beef and Anjoy pidgeon.
D'Ultimo – Mamer
Spacious yet cosy, with ambient lighting, this restaurant offers dry aged beef, trout and turbot on its Valentine's day menu.
If there is no getting out of the house on 14 February, Oberweis has a special Valentine's menu including maigret de canard and salmon in ginger. Order in, pretend you've cooked it yourself, and add a fantastic box of chocolates to the mix and you'll have your Valentine eating from your hand (literally).
Try V is for Vodka The Single Party
The antidote to couples in love, Project Lux are hosting this party for singles on 14 February at Jakob's House/Club-Restaurant, with a happy hour on vodka long drinks and shots from 20.00 to 22.00.
Who knows, maybe cupid will shoot an arrow, but, even if he doesn't, you will still have lots of fun.
