(CS) An economy committee on Tuesday approved requests by 35 companies to place workers on reduced working hours, with a total of 1,932 employees affected.

The “Comité de Conjoncture” under the chairmanship of Labour Minister Nicolas Schmit approved 35 out of 37 applications.

The companies, which were granted permission to implement partial unemployment measures, provide work for 3,508 people. The measures will take effect starting November.

The number of applications increased compared to September, when only 28 companies made a request, which was granted for 27.

The number of employees affected then was at 1,380 out of a total of 2,373 employed by the companies concerned.

The next meeting of the economy committee will take place November 27.
