As part of a European operation, Luxembourg police and Customs and Excise carried out joint roadside checks at various points throughout the country on Friday, stopping 141 vehicles in total.

The border between Wasserbillig-Mesenich on the A1 motorway, a strategic point by the A13 motorway, and several other locations were used as locations to pull over vehicles. Mobile scanners for trucks on duty and drug tracker dogs were also used.

In total 141 vehicles and 179 people were checked with some successful results.

Two licences were seized due to alcohol, one driver was convicted for drugs and non-valid or even missing paperwork was discovered for four vehicles.

Added to that, three warnings were issued under the “Road Traffic Act”, although the details are not known.
