A dramatic collision occurred on Sunday evening, shortly before 9pm, on the Trier-Luxembourg motorway, just before the border crossing at Aire de Wasserbillig.

(ADW) A dramatic collision occurred on Sunday evening, shortly before 9pm, on the Trier-Luxembourg motorway, just before the border crossing at Aire de Wasserbillig.

A driver, under the influence of alcohol, smashed into a Danish family car with 2 children as passenger on the back seat.

The children were rushed to hospital with serious injuries, their parents suffering slight injuries.

The drunk-driver, also suffering minor cuts and bruises and had his driving licence taken away by police on the spot.

According to police, witnesses stated that the drunk driver, immediately before the accident, continuously made reckless lane changes.

The wreckage from the accident meant that the motorway way blocked while a clean-up operation took place.
