(CS/gs) A life-long prison sentence in a murder case dating back to 2011 was reduced to 28 years on Wednesday, following an appeal by defense lawyers.

A 29-year-old man had been sentenced to life after being found guily of raping and killing a transsexual sex worker in September 2011.

He had solicited the sex worker's services but an argument later broke out over the price – 50 euros instead of 40. The man then kicked the 51-year-old victim to the ground and choked her before fleeing the scene.

Having lost his mobile phone, however, he returned and decided to pull the unconscious body behind a building. When the victim opened her eyes, he kicked her several times.

Evidence from the scene also indicates that the man raped his victim behind the building. However, the man has denied this.
