432 jobs lost in banking sector in a year
The number of jobs in the Grand Duchy's banking sector fell by more than 400 over a year, figures published by Luxembourg's central bank have revealed.
According to the quarterly BCL bulletin, job numbers in the banking sector fell by 432 from September 2012 to September 2013.
Altogether, 26,185 people were employed in banking in Luxembourg last month. Compared with June 2013, figures fell by 191. Despite the overall drop caused by 43 banks reducing their staff numbers, 46 financial institutions grew their workforce by up to 13 employees respectively.
The number of banks in Luxembourg grew by three from June to September 2013, bringing the total number of banks in the country up to 145.
