5 injured in car accident

(ADW) An accident injuring 5 occupants of a car occurred on Wednesday evening on the road just outside Biwer.

A young driver lost control of their car on a sharp bend heading out of Biwer and crashed into a guardrail by the side of the road. The force of the impact was enough to throw the car back across the road to the other side, riding an embankment, hitting a wall and smashing and damaging a fire hydrant, before finally being thrown back into the road where it came to a halt.

All five teenagers in the car were slightly injured in the accident and admitted to hospital. While the injuries were not serious the material damage caused by the accident was reported to be major.

The road was completely blocked while a clean-up operation took place.
