A bit of glitz and glamour at the Fouer
(CS/AH) Since the 2000 edition of the Schueberfouer, the funfair has included the “Journée des Reines”, with Thursday once again seeing a group of young local women celebrated at the event.
The Schueberfouer comes with a number of traditions, including its family day, the mayors' day when mayors take over as waiters at the funfairs restaurants, as well as Fouer Sunday, which sees shops in the capital open to add to the appeal of making a trip to the City.
Every year, one day, the so-called “Journée des Reines”, sees a number of queens tour the fair, such as Luxembourg's wine queen, its Riesling queen or its broom queen and princesses – all chosen at local festivities around the country.
Tiaras and sashes at the ready, the young women were joined by friends from Germany, including the Saarland harvest, beer and wine queens.
The ladies braved the rain with smiles on their faces, stopping to chat with other visitors to the Fouer and of course to promote local wines and produce.
