A post office and supermarket in 1
People will be able to collect and post their parcels from the supermarket thanks to a new partnership between Luxembourg's Post Office and shop chain Cactus.
From Monday, the pilot service was being rolled out in two Cactus stores, in Howald and Redange, where shoppers will be able to find stamps, prepaid envelopes and collect parcels from “PackUp” stations at a time that suits them.
“The idea came two years ago,” explained Post Director General Claude Strasser, adding: “We have 97offices across the country, many of which have relatively little traffic which is why we have reduced opening hours.
Conversely, in large cities, our employees are overwhelmed.” After a test phase in the first two shops, the service will be extended to 21 other shops from September in C-Shoppi stoes and Gulf and Total petrol stations.
