A1 collision causes 4km tailbacks
Motorists were being urged to avoid the A1 motorway between Luxembourg and Trier after a truck collision on Tuesday left one lane blocked.
The collision between two lorries occurred at around 10.55 am, between the Kirchberg and Senningerberg exits.
According to police reports, a lorry with a flat tyre slowed down close to the Senningerberg exit. Another lorry behind the first one did not see the vehicle slowing until the last minute. In an attempt to miss the vehicle, he veered off the road, taking part of the trailer from the first vehicle with him. No-one was injured in the incident.
The blockage caused major traffic delays, with tailbacks stretching up to four kilometres long at its peak at 1pm.
The situation is thought to have since normalised.
