(JB) Steel giant ArcelorMittal is to outsource its IT services to CSC and will transfer 22 staff members in Luxembourg to the firm as part of the agreement.

Under an agreement between ArcelorMittal's European operations and CSC, the 22 employees will be contracted to work for CSC but will have the chance to return to work on ArcelorMittal-related activities during within the next two years.

Luxembourg trade union LCGB was involved with the agreement. Secretary Luc Kremer said: “We had hoped that they would retain the same status they had at ArcelorMittal and that it would be a temporary loan of resources. Normally, this is how we would proceed.”

In Luxembourg, the agreement will affect some 22 employees. But across ArcelorMittal's Europe-wide workforce, some 300 employees are expected to make the transition to the IT firm.
