Autopsies are to be conducted after two bodies were found in suspicious circumstances in the Sainte-Zithe hospital in Luxembourg City.

The body of a Macedonian man and a woman were found in a hospital room at around 8.15pm on Thursday. Initial reports from the prosecution suggest that they died violently.

The prosecution said that the 60-year-old man may have killed his wife (52) with a knife before taking his own life. A weapon was found in the same room in which the bodies were discovered.

The couple had reportedly been living in Luxembourg as refugees, in Befort, for the last two years.

The bodies were found in the toilet of a room in the hospital. The deceased man was previously known to police and had been arrested several times for domestic violence. The couple are survived by a son.

The hospital was contacted by the newspaper but refused to give a comment on the incident.
