It was just before 6am on Tuesday morning when fire broke out in house in Bigelbach, on the edge of the forest. Firefighters from Reisdorf and the complete Diekirch department swiftly arrived at the scene.

(ADW) It was just before 6am on Tuesday morning when fire broke out in house in Bigelbach, on the edge of the forest.

Firefighters from Reisdorf and the complete Diekirch department swiftly arrived at the scene to tackle the blaze.

The joint fire departments managed to bring the fire under control, and at about 8am with the use of industrial fans, vented the thick smoke away from the building.

Both the first and the second floor of the building suffered major damage rendering the house completely uninhabitable.

The two residents were rushed to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

Bigelbach police have now launched an investigations to clarify just how the fire started.
