Luxembourg City's provisional blue bridge is to open on April 14, the government has confirmed in a press release.

From this date, “Pont Adolphe” which runs alongside the blue bridge, will close to traffic. However, planned renovations will not begin immediately, the government said, and in the interim, the “Pont Adolphe” will form the setting for a number of activities and events.

“It will take some time – they (the company responsible for renovations) have to put up the work areas,” a government spokeswoman told wort.lu/en, adding: “The bridge (Pont Adolphe) is going to be available quite some time to do something.”

The spokeswoman said it was too early to reveal the agenda of activities but that information would emerge in the coming weeks.

The temporary blue bridge structure which spans the Pétrusse valley was initially due to open at the beginning of March. It was delayed because of complications from the tender process for renovations to the “Pont Adolphe”.
