(CS) Police were able to apprehend two burglary suspects on Friday evening after a woman spotted the men jumping across a garden fence in Cessange and called police.

The woman said she thought the behaviour of the men was suspicious. A patrol car quickly arrived in Kohlenberg, a parallel street of Rue de Cessange, where officers spotted the men, who attempted to flee the scene when they saw police arrive.

However, police managed to catch up with them and apprehend the suspects, who were wearing gloves and carrying torches.

In Mamer meanwhile, a man surprised a burglar when he returned to his home around 5.40pm on Friday. The suspect, described as around 1.80 metres tall and dressed in black, fled the scene and is still at large.

In Steinfort, a woman reported that her front door was damaged, showing signs of an attempted break-in. Earlier this week, a young man and woman broke into a home on the same street. The young woman is described as aged 16 to 18, of regular build and around 1.60 metres tall. She had mid-length dark hair and was dressed in black. The young man is thought be aged between 17 and 20, around 1.70 metres tall with short black hair and dressed in black.

Further burglaries were reported Capellen, Binsfeld, Itzig and Luxembourg City between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
