Car goes up in flames on motorway
A car caught fire during rush hour on a Luxembourg motorway causing eight kilometres of tailbacks.
The vehicle was travelling along the A1 towards Trier in Germany and was close to Grevenmacher on Wednesday when the car ignited.
It is thought that the blaze was started by a technical fault. All passengers were able to exit the vehicle before the fire took hold.
One lane had to be closed for firefighters to extinguish the fire and clean up the road. The closure caused traffic jams stretching up to eight kilometres.
A subsequent two-car collision at the Potaschberg exit caused further tailbacks to motorists on the same stretch of road.
