(ADW) A woman motorist was shocked by a man who smashed her passenger window before grabbing her handbag off the seat, while she was waiting at the traffic lights in Strassen on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 4.30pm on Route d'Arlon. While the woman stopped her black VW Touareg, the thief smashed the window with his elbow and stole the handbag before managing to escape down a path located next to the motorway bridge towards Rue de la Vallée.

The perpetrator is described as a 1.80 metres tall man, aged between 19 and 20 with a thin face, of slim build and black hair. He wore a grey round hat. The bag stolen was a red-brown velvet design made by the brand “Guess” containing credit cards, papers, and a small sum of money.

A search for the culprit was carried out by several patrols, a police helicopter, and dog handlers yielding no results.

If anyone witnessed the incident or can provide information, they are asked to call the emergency number 113.
