(CH) A major bridge linking the gare district to Gasperich is to close for three weeks because of roadworks.

From Monday (August 22) the “Pont d'Alsace” that connects the Gare district around Luxembourg-City's railway station with Gasperich will be closed to all motorists until September 16.

In October last year, the existing road bridge was moved by 20 metres closer towards the city's central station. Shortly thereafter, the construction works for the new bridge began, following the “bowstring” method.

The new bridge is 119 metres long, bright red and does not need supporting pillars. It appears that the construction works of the bridge are completed so far and that the three weeks of roadworks will involve connecting the bridge to the road network.

Motorists will be diverted via rue de Hollerich and route d'Esch. Bus lines 2 and 18 will be diverted and bus stops may be moved during the duration of the works.
