City Jogging shuts down city centre
(JB) Residents are warned to avoid certain roads on Sunday when the city centre closes down for a public sporting event.
The 27th JP Morgan City Jogging day is one of the city's biggest sports events after the ING marathon and is expected to attract some 2,500 participants and hundreds more spectators this year.
On July 3, runners, strollers, power walkers and nordic walkers can choose from a six-kilometre or 10-kilometre course, both of which set off from and finish at the Coque leisure centre, in Kirchberg.
There is also a one-kilometre route around the Coque sports centre for children and young runners.
As well as delays and deviations for motorists, bus passengers are warned to expect some route changes and should check the city's bus website before setting out www.vdl.lu
The roads which will be closed from 10am include:
Rue Léon Hengen, Rue Richard Coudenhove-Kalgeri, Avenue John F. Kennedy, Rue des Coquelicots, Rue des Muguets, Rue Jules Wilhelm, Allée Pierre de Mansfeld, Rud du Fort Olisy, Rue Sosthène Weis, Rue Saint Ulric, Vallée de la Pétrusse, Rue de la Semois, Avenue Marie-Thérèse, Place de Bruxelles, Boulevard Royal, Avenue Monterey, Centre-ville, Avenue Pescatore, Avenue de la Porte-Neuve, Bd Robert Schuman, Avenue J.F. Kennedy, 3 Glands, place de l’Europe, Avenue J.F. Kennedy (bus line), Rue Erasme, Rue Léon Hengen.
Roads will gradually reopen from 12.30pm onwards with the exception of rue Léon Hengen in Kirchberg, which will remain closed until 2pm.

City Jogging places still available
2,500 people have already signed up for the City Jogging event but places are still available on the day. Same-day registration will be held at the start from 8.45am until 10.45am.
