Bollywood music will form the soundtrack to this year's Eid festivals in Luxembourg when friends and family gather to celebrate the end of Ramadan.

The Indian Association of Luxembourg will be going all out with their Eid celebrations, providing a magnificent Mughlai supper accompanied by favourite tunes from Bollywood movies performed live. And you don't have to be a follower of the Islamic faith to join in!

Association head Ali Sherwani explained: “The Eid celebration is not restricted to just people from the Islamic faith. There's a big mix of people who join the community with people of all nationalities. We will have a specially prepared menu and it will be an authentic experience for all people interested in the Indian culture.”

The Islamic festival Eid marks the end of the Muslim fasting period known as Ramadan. Officially, Eid falls on the last weekend of Ramadan, which was last weekend. Ali explained that many Muslims prefer to spend this time with their families, which is why the Indian Association celebration was pushed back a week.

This year's unmissable Eid celebration will take place at Mamerschlass, Mamer's town hall, on the evening of September 10 (Saturday). Among the line-up will be live performances of Sufi Qawalli and Bollywood music from the Ensemble Anubhab, an Indian group which is touring Europe. An authentic meal will be provided by the New Delhi Restaurant.

Participation costs 20 euro for IAL members, 25 euro for non-members and 15 euro for students. Book early to avoid disappointment.
