"Don't be silly, ask for Picadilly"
3, 2, 1 – PICADILLY
(CH) And once again, the legend that is...Picadilly arrives this coming weekend! Every year, the same old ritual: the capital is left deserted for the 2nd weekend of August and the country heads to Stadtbredimus. From Friday to Sunday, the wine festival will offer delights from an extensive wine list, including the best wines from the “Briedemësser” area. The Domaines des Vinsmoselles, Caves Muller&Fils, Domaine La Chaumière and Domaine Cep d'Or will all have dug deep into their liquid treasure chests. As previous years, entry is free.
But let's be honest: the real and inevitable hit is the notorious Picadilly wine. Now, for the novices among you who don't know the 'secret' recipe of Picadilly yet; Take a good dose of white wine, a dash of 'crème de cassis', a wee bit of black current juice and add something fizzy at the end. Voilà – no way you'll avoid that dreadful hangover the next morning. But don't worry! “Don't be silly ask for Picadilly!!!” as the festival slogan says.
Picadilly is organised by the “Syndicat d'Initiative et du tourisme Stadtbredimus” and supported by the leaders of the BC Musel Pikes, the Badminton Club Ecluse, the sport fishermen, the Chorale Ste-Cécile, the volunteer fire department and the Club des Jeunes Greiveldingen-Stadtbredimus. In short, almost all “Briedemësser” will be busy busy during these three days.
The party gets started on Friday at 7pm with musical entertainment from the “Traders”, followed by the “Picadilly-Bal” (10pm) with the band “Providers”.
On Saturday, the band “Mental Masturbation” will start at 8pm with groovy excerpts from the 70's up to today. After the warm-up, the popular DJ group “Musketeers & special guests” will turn the music up. On Sunday, the annual festival will slowly end with the last tunes performed by Harmonie Municipale Esch/Alzette (starts 5pm).
