Puppy Love for Brownies and Rainbows
Brownies and Rainbows gave "paws" for thought for their bottle-top saving campaign when guide dog Cartoon paid them a visit on Tuesday.
The 2nd Luxembourg Brownies and Rainbows greeted the Golden Labrador from Luxembourg charity Handi'Chiens with pats and cuddles when he padded into their meeting at St George's International School with his master, Norbert.
The youngsters have been collecting plastic bottle tops for Handi'Chiens since the start of the year. Dennis Nash of the charity explained that the goal is to collect 52 tonnes of bottle tops, which are recycled and made into things like car bumpers.
He also outlined how funds raised from this initiative can help the charity's different projects, with Handi'Chiens working with Alzheimer's patients as well as people with physical disabilities and children being treated in hospital.
“It's important for the Brownies to learn about their community and to learn about helping other people,” leader Jackie Wilkie told wort.lu/en, adding: “The girls have been collecting bottle tops for several months. They will be so inspired by the visit they will want to collect lots more.”
