Rainbows bring Christmas delights to shoppers
(CS) The British Girl Guides in Luxembourg took to the stage on Tuesday with Christmas carols to raise the festive cheer and collect funds for the Make-A-Wish charity.
The Rainbows, aged five to seven, sang traditional Christmas songs, such as Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Auchan shopping centre in Kirchberg, delighting shoppers running evening errands.
Over the past weeks, the girls have been making hand-made Christmas decorations, which they exchanged with their audience for donations for the charity Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes to children with terminal or life-limiting diseases.
Delicious traditional mince pies were also on the menu.
Rainbows Leader Karen Thomson said: “We're so thrilled that Auchan has given us the opportunity to showcase what Girlguiding is all about here today. The girls have been practicing really hard, and are so proud of what they have achieved this term. The fact that we could raise money for this year's chosen charity Make-A-Wish at the same time makes the whole occasion extra special for everyone involved.”
The British Girl Guides have raised funds for the charity throughout the year, for example by hosting a sponsored walk and a Winter Wonderland Christmas market.
“We hope everyone who was here enjoyed the girls' performance, and will go away feeling uplifted and filled with Christmas spirit,” added Karen, inviting anyone with young girls interested in joining the Rainbows in the new year to contact email@example.com
