Take a bite of the action
(JB) Escape the bustle of the town this week while still taking a bite of the action when Steinsel's apple festival gets underway.
For two weekends, members of the public will have a chance to return to nature, picking delicious apples from the orchards.
With 25,000 apple trees spread across 25 hectares of orchards and some eight different apple types, fans of nature and good food will be spoilt for choice.
Fruit fans won't find a fresher crop in any supermarket in the country. Pickers are charged depending on the weight of their harvest. But, windfall apples, which are found on the ground, are free of charge.
The Fêtes aux Pommes au Verger is a long-running tradition organised by Steinsel's cooperative of fruit producers.
As well as apples in their raw form, visitors can enjoy tastings of mouth-watering apple juice, luscious licqueurs and puddings.
The festival began on Thursday but runs on October 1-2 and 8-9. Visitors can take advantage of the special event on Saturday from 2pm to 6pm and on Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
