Students and teachers from the International School of Luxembourg celebrated their first day back, the school's 50th anniversary and the enhancement of the Upper School building on Wednesday.

(MSS) Students and teachers from the International School of Luxembourg celebrated their first day back, the school's 50th anniversary and the enhancement of the upper school building on Wednesday.

The students were greeted at the Merl-based school with festive balloons and an enormous cake, big enough to feed the 500 people expected at the reception.

The upper school extension was constructed in 2010 providing 15 rooms to meet the growing number of applicants. It underwent an extensive refit over the summer holidays.

On September 4 the opening of the new, state-of-the-art Lower School will be celebrated equally, allowing students to see the sustainable and eco-efficient building for the first time.
