Turkey-tastic feast in Contern
The ranch-like Conterstuff, in Contern, provided a fitting backdrop to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner hosted by the American Luxembourg Society on Thursday.
With rustic decor, US flags, gourds and chestnuts scattered around the tables, the venue added a welcome edge of authenticity for guests.
A sumptuous feast was served, including roast turkey, potatoes, cranberry sauce and stuffing, prompting many to opt for seconds and even thirds.
The American Luxembourg Society was founded in 1882 by Luxembourg's first immigrants to the US, who then later returned to the Grand Duchy. With some 450 members, theirs is the oldest friendship club with the US in the world.
As well as organising an annual Thanksgiving dinner for people of all nationalities, the society also holds a fourth of July event and is closely involved with veteran societies.
