Circles scoops top CinÉast prize
The jury of the sixth CinÉast Film Festival has selected its Grand Prix winner, this year awarding the prize to Srdan Golubović's film Circles.
The panel of judges, which was headed by producer and director Donato Rotunno also awarded a Special Jury Prize for the movie Heavenly Shift by Márk Bodzsár.
Meanwhile, the Audience Award was also won him the film Circles.
Jury president Mr Rotunno said: “We decided to award the main CinEast 2013 prize to what is a very human story. It is a touching film fresco of post-war society that addresses important moral issues without sermonizing. We were very convinced by the clever and surprising structure of the film and the impressive acting."
For the first time the public also voted for the best short film in three categories.
- Audience Award for best short film: To Guard A Mountain Izer Aliu (MK / NO 2012)
- Audience Award for Best Animated Short Film : The Kiosk Anete Meletius (LV / CH 2013)
- Audience Award for Best Short Documentary : Survey About Women Mateusz Głowacki (PL 2013)
The ceremony was followed by a screening of the latest film by jury member Katarzyna Klimkiewicz called Flying Blind.
This year the festival attracted more than 6,000 spectators and involved more than 1,500 participants at its special events.
For those who missed it the first time round, Circles will be aired on October 27 at the Cinemathèque at 8.30pm.
