June 12: Fundraising concert for Nepal
People in Luxembourg can support those who suffered as a result of the earthquakes in Nepal by attending a charity concert in June.
The Association Luxembourg Népal asbl, (ALN) is organising a charity concert in conjunction with Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde and Pharmaciens Sans Frontières, Luxembourg and with all proceeds will be given to victims of the Nepal earthquakes.
The Gorkha earthquake in April 2015 is regarded as the worst disaster to hit Nepal since the 1934 Nepal-Bihar earthquake.
More than 8,800 people died and thousands more were injured. The quake also triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing at least 19 people, and another in the Langtang valley, were 250 people were reported missing.
In addition to suffering major aftershocks since then, thousands of people have been made homeless by the disaster.
This fundraising concert, scheduled for June 12, will feature Nepalese masters from Kathmandu, the ‘Nepal Sitars’ with Satendra Bir Singh Tuladhar on Sitar and Nabankur Bhattacharya on Tabla.
It is hosted at the “Centre de Loisirs Am Sand, in Oberanven, Luxembourg, starting with nibbles and a bar from 7pm and music from 8pm.
There will also be a chance to purchase Nepalese imports during the evening.
