Luxembourg has bought Greece! .... apparently
(ADW) A cheeky little article appeared on the UK satirical website “The Poke” boldly stating that “Luxembourg buys Greece”. A rather amusing tongue-in-cheek scenario taking the financial crisis to absurd extremes.
The article was written back in 2013 and it quotes Prime Minister at the time, Jean-Claude Juncker as stating: “We have been wanting to move to a bigger place for some time. It needs a lot of work doing to it but it’s got bags of charm and, of course, right now it’s a bargain. Who knows – once we have increased its value, we might even sell it on to Monaco or someone like that.”
The site even created a map of Greece, in its vision on how the New Luxembourg (or Luxemgreece?) may look, clearly doing a bit of research as it placed Troisvierges in northern Greece and Esch to the south.
Of course the article is total fabrication as in fact is every story on The Poke site who's motto is “Time well wasted”.
But, perhaps a little bit of humour is good for us in these times of crisis.
