Schuttrange goes nuts for the 18th time!
As the town has been doing for eighteen years, Schuttrange will once again celebrate the coming autumn with a “Nössmaart” (nut market). The festivities kick off Saturday evening with an “Oldies Night” in which “Orchester Charlie” performs live. The party is held in a heated tent and entrance is free.
The following day, the nut market, taking place on the square in front of the Centre Culturel, will begin at 10am.
The lunch at 12pm will serve up the traditional “Fierkelshämmchen mat gebotschte Gromperen an Gemeis” (Porc chop with sautéed potatoes and vegetables), and for those less fond of chops there will be other dishes to choose from.
“Orchester Charlie” and the “Clown Olly” will begin entertaining visitors from 2pm and about two hours later Luxembourg’s favourite strongman Georges Christen, holder of 16 records, will perform some of his tricks, which might involve: ripping apart phone books, bending 368 eight-inch nails or iron bars and even pulling buses with his teeth!
Naturally, you’ll be able to munch on the standard “Luxringer” (which is still a Thüringer to most people), a portion of fries and beer. kids will be able to ride donkeys and take part in different games, while parents can shop around the many stands (some flea market style, other more like Schueberfouer) and try their luck at winning home-made nut cakes in the local tombola.
The main road, rue Principale, will be closed for traffic but a shuttle service is available. If you are coming from the West (Motorway, Niederanven, Sennigerberg, etc.) you can park your car in the “Zone Commerciale Bombicht” and take the bus. If you’re coming from the South (Schrassig, Moutfort, Sandweiler, etc.) you can park in front of the town hall and take the bus from there. So why not join Schuttrange and go nuts this weekend too?
