“Theaterfest” kicks off Luxembourg theatre season
(MSS) Have a peek at this season's plays, when Abbaye Neumünster hosts the opening event of Luxembourg's theatrical season with plenty of entertainment in store for visitors.
From 11am on September 22, the old monastery will be transformed into one big stage, representing all of Luxembourg's theatres. Entrance is free, and with sneak peaks of upcoming shows, visitors are offered a glimpse into this year's theatrical season which has Shakespeare's As You Like It on offer on September 27 and 30 and October 1 in English, among other shows.
Actors and street performers will present small excerpts of the plays, as well as open rehearsals, readings and a variety of dance sessions. Artists and other professionals will be on site to provide information to aspiring actors, dancers and directors, who are interested in learning more about performing arts and opportunities of theatre classes and dance training in Luxembourg.
The younger audience is invited to experience theatre with storyteller Betsy Dentzer and designer Katie Roch, who will unpack her toolbox to give children a hands on experience at her workshop.
The Abbaye's cellar will be turned into a large treasure trove, where the different theatres will be selling costumes and other theatrical accessories.
