(CS/thi) For one week, the Luxembourg City “Conservatoire” is hosting the International Katarzyna Mycka Marimba Academy, with workshops and concerts until September 15.

It is the sixth edition of the IKMMA, but the first time that the academy is hosted in Luxembourg.

But Mycka's connection dates a long way back. In 1995 the musician won the audience award at the International Percussion Competition Luxembourg. Now she is back with her academy, which was founded 10 years ago.

For one week, a group of 32 students will get the chance to work with six world renowned marimba musicians and teachers. The week includes individual training, as well as chamber music rehearsals and building connections to other musicians.

Wort.lu stopped by the academy, which runs until September 15. Anyone who wants to discover the instrument is welcome to listen-in at daily lessons and concerts. For more information visit ipcl.lu or cml.lu
