Do foreigners need Luxembourgish?
Preservation of the Luxembourgish language was among the reasons given by voters for rejecting foreigner voting rights in Luxembourg.
The proposal was one of three put to Luxembourgers in the June 7 referendum and received a resounding 'no' from 78 percent of Luxembourg voters.
But, while Luxembourgers may consider Luxembourgish as crucial for integration, expats and cross-border workers who wort.lu spoke to in Kirchberg on Monday had a different view.
With French, English and German cited as the most commonly used languages at the office, Luxembourgish was not top of the list of importance for working.
However, when it comes to living in the Grand Duchy, foreign respondents recognised that there were other needs to consider.
