Do you recognise this suspected credit card thief?
(ADW) Way back in March a large sum of money was withdrawn from an Echternach Post Office cash machine using a stolen credit card, however it is only now that police have released photographs of the suspect.
Using the camera located on the cash machine police have finally been able to pinpoint the moment the stolen card was used and issue the photos above.
If anyone recognises the man, or are able to provide clues to his identity, they should call Diekirch police station on 24481200 or the emergency number: 113
Why does it take so long to release photos?
There are a number of reasons why it can take a long time for a photo to be issued after a crime is committed, starting with when it is reported as it can be weeks before the police are aware of incidents.
Picture quality can play a part and police must be 100 percent sure the person in the photo is the suspect and that all privacy of innocent people is respected.
Police only use press as a last resort once all else fails. The photo may have been available to them for quite some time before releasing to the media.
