Drunk driver called out over hit-and-run
A caller reported a hit-and-run to police on Monday which occurred along the A7 during which his car was damaged while another car try to overtake it.
The incident occurred along the motorway in the direction of Ettelbruck, near Roost. According to the caller, the driver just continued driving after the incident.
With the plate number, police were able to track down the the female owner of the car. She informed the officers that her boyfriend had left earlier with the vehicle.
The car had deep scratches on it, indicating a previous accident.
When officers spoke with the man, he initially feigned ignorance--until police reminded him there had been a witness. During the conversation, police noticed the smell of alcohol. A breath test was then ordered, which showed the man had indeed significantly exceeded the legal limit.
His license was confiscated and the incident was logged.
