It was late on Thursday night when a witness noticed someone attempting to climbing the scaffolding surrounding the Bertrange church tower and alerted the police.

It was late on Thursday night when a witness noticed someone attempting to climbing the scaffolding surrounding the Bertrange church tower and alerted the police.

The incident occurred at about 9:15pm, and officers were quickly on the scene as the police station is located virtually opposite the church.

However, the fire brigade was then called out to aid quick access the bell tower.

Two firemen followed the man’s path up the scaffolding and eventually found him actually inside the bell tower.

He was immediately apprehended and discovered to be drunk. The culprit has been placed in pre-trial detention for posing danger to himself and others.

The police report also stated that a second person also attempted to climb the scaffolding, but climbed down before the police arrived and fled the scene.
