Drunk truck driver crashes at service station
A drunk truck driver caused an accident at the Wasserbillig service station on the German border, narrowly avoiding knocking down a man on Friday evening.
The incident happened at about 9.30pm when a truck travelling in the direction of Germany, pulled into the Wasserbillig service station, it just missed the hitting the petrol pumps, before nearly mowing down another truck driver who has just filled up.
The truck continued its journey, before it ploughed with force into the back of a parked tractor.
Another truck driver who was watching a film in their cabin at the time, managed to call the police, and when they arrived, the offending driver fell backward onto the road when attempting to exit his cabin.
A breathalyser revealed that the driver was well over the legal alcohol limit registering two parts per thousand. Inside the cabin lay several empty bottles of spirits.
The truck was immediately seized and the driver issued with a driving ban.
