Dudelange goes medieval for “Butschebuerger Buergfest”

Make a note in your calendar to head to Dudelange some time next weekend for the 14th annual Medieval Festival or “Butschebuerger Buergfest” taking place on both Saturday and Sunday.

(ADW) Make a note in your calendar to head to Dudelange some time next weekend for the 14th annual Medieval Festival or “Butschebuerger Buergfest”.

Re-enactment groups, craftsmen and jesters all descend on Dudelange this coming Saturday for the annual fair, giving visitors the chance to travel back in time to the Middle Ages at the castle grounds in Dudelange.

The two-day fair offers market stalls to discover the lifestyle of our ancestors, as well as the chance to taste food and drink from the days of a bygone era.

Activities for children and performances by musicians, jugglers and knights in a jousting tournament round are all part of the attractive programme

The festival continues right up until Sunday at 6.30pm when a closing parade takes place.

Saturday, 12/09/2015

  • 11:00 Start of the market with more than 90 merchants and artisans, archery, story tellers, taverns, bath houses, exotic birds and more!
  • 12:00 Continuous performances on stages and in the market, visiting the encampments and tournaments for boys and girls.
  • 2:00 p.m. : The Official opening parade takes place 
  • 3:00 p.m.: Knight tournaments take place in the fields with concerts and other attractions too.
  • 7:00 p.m. Small show takes place at the bathhouse with music and acrobats
  • 7:30 p.m. Knights tournament with fire torches.
  • 8:30 p.m On the large stage – big tavern show with all artists
  • 10:00 p.m 'Lichterello' - A show of fire, magic, and more! Presented by Forzarello, Fairytales accompanied by musicians
  • 11:00 p.m. A big fire show from Societas Draconis

Sunday 13/09/2015

  • 10:00 Medieval Mass in the Chapel, and medieval chant and by Markus and Frank
  • 10:00 The market begins
  • 12:00 Continuous performances on stages and in the market, visiting the encampments and tournaments for boys and girls.
  • 3:00 p.m.Knight tournaments take place in the fields with concerts and other attractions too.
  • 6:30 p.m. closing parade
