405 million-euro earners in Luxembourg
(CS) There are 405 households in Luxembourg earning a million euros or more per year, a confidential document has shown, making up 8.5 percent of total income tax revenue.
Top earners, making over 250,000 euros per year, account for just 1.5 percent of households, but together make up for around a third of total income tax paid, which is estimated at 4.37 billion euros next year.
In total, 478,457 households are listed in the “Compendium sur le données statistiques des impôts luxembourgeois”, a confidential tax document obtained by radio station 100,7, also including cross-border workers paying income tax in the Grand Duchy.
The 177-page “compendium” is assumed to be a key document for the tax reform planned by the Luxembourg government for 2017.
Just under 160,000 households were listed as earning below 20,000 euros.
The income bracket 0 to 10,000 euros counted the largest number of households (99,963), followed by 20,000 to 30,000 euros (81,995) with the income bracket 30,000 to 40,000 euros coming third with 71,230 households.
