Altogether some 400 people attended the colourful celebration organised by the Chinese Business Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg (CHINALUX) and held at the Centre Culturel de Rencontre at the Abbaye de Neumunster, which is also hosting an exhibition of work by Chinese photographer Steve Zhao.

The event saw guests drawn from CHINALUX as well as six ambassadors, including ambassador of the embassy to the Peoples' Republic of China in Luxembourg, the European Institute for Asian Studies and the Luxembourg International Junior Chamber.

The Chinese New Year officially begins in China's timezone on January 23, 2012. This will be the 4709th year in the Chinese Calendar and is known as the year of the Black Dragon. The next New Year will begin on February 10, 2013.
