(JB) Economics minister Jeannot Krecké may step down from his ministerial role before his term is officially due to finish.

In an interview with DNR radio, LSAP leader Alex Bodry, confirmed the rumour, suggesting that the minister will quit after making an overseas mission in January 2012.

Luxembourg's leader Jean-Claude Juncker has also confirmed that he has discussed the matter with the economics minister.

However, he underlined that it was for Mr Krecké, who is currently in Vietnam on a mission, to decide for himself.

Mr Krecké said: "I will stop only when my work is done."

Jeannot Krecké was elected to parliament in 1989 and became a minister in 2004.
