Luxembourg's biohealth boffins head for Brazil
Luxembourg's BioHealth Cluster is to participate in a European company mission to Brazil to take part in a trade fair and meet with potential business partners.
Brazil is the world’s sixth largest economy and the mission, organised by the European Commission, aims to ease access to this market, particularly in the fields of biotechnologies and personalised medicine.
One of the highlights of the mission will be international trade fair “BioPartnering Latin America 2013”, to be held in Rio de Janeiro from September 10-12. This international trade fair has become an important meeting place for the rapidly developing Latin American biotechnology industry. Besides interesting workshops and presentations bilateral meetings with preselected business partners are offered.
The Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster, which is overseen by national innovation agency Luxinnovation, was selected to participate in the visit to explore possible business opportunities for its 50 members who are active in the Luxembourg health technology sector.
“One of the main tasks of the Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster is to bring together the Luxembourg stakeholders in the health technology sector and initiate common projects," said Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster manager Dr Thomas Dentzer, adding: "At the same time we want to increase the international visibility of the Luxembourg health technology sector by pooling the existing expertise within the cluster. Participation in the European delegation allows us to explore not only new business opportunities in Brazil but also get in close contact with the other delegation participants, who come from all over Europe and have been carefully selected by the European Commission.”
