On the third day of the Luxembourg state visit to Turkey on Thursday, Luxembourg Grand Duke Henri opened the Atlantic Council Energy & Economic Summit, and new economy ties between the Grand Duchy and Turkey were forged.

(CS) On the third day of the Luxembourg state visit to Turkey on Thursday, Luxembourg Grand Duke Henri opened the Atlantic Council Energy & Economic Summit, and new economy ties between the Grand Duchy and Turkey were forged.

In his opening address, the Grand Duke spoke about the importance of the Turkish economy for Luxembourg and the EU, as well as pointing out challenges for sustainable development and energy policies.

At the Business Forum Turkey-Luxembourg later in the day, the Luxembourg delegation, including Finance Minister Luc Frieden and Economy Minister Etienne Schneider, promoted the Grand Duchy's financial centre to representatives of the Turkish business and financial community.

The Luxembourg of Chamber of Commerce said in a press statement that around 30 new business connections were made during the trip.

Especially in the logistics sector businesses were brought together. Luxembourg-based Jost Group formed a partnership with the Turkish Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers, Utikad.

Additionally, Jan De Nul signed a new contract in Istanbul, the cooperation between Mars Logistics and CFL Cargo was reinforced and Cluster Automotive and Luxinnovation entered a partnership.

Meanwhile, during the meetings on Thursday the Turkish-Luxembourgish Business Council was founded.

Friday marks the end of the five-day state visit to Turkey with the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess visiting Istanbul and its tourist attractions.
