(ADW) Despite German group Siemens making a startling announcement on Sunday that 15,000 jobs would be cut, this will not affect employees in the Grand Duchy, according to Siemens Luxembourg.

"The Luxembourg site will not be affected by the job cuts announced by the group," stated Fabienne Gengler, Communications Manager at Siemens Luxembourg.

In the Grand Duchy, the number of employees will remain at about 105, divided into four major business areas: industrial sector, healthcare, energy and the sector Siemens calls "infrastructure & cities".

Siemens plans however, to cut 15,000 jobs worldwide with a third in Germany. These measures are part of the group's 2014 plan, a comprehensive programme that should allow the group to make savings of around six billion euros by 2014.
