First tram carriages arrive in Luxembourg
The first carriages for one of Luxembourg's new trams appeared on Wednesday evening in Kirchberg having arrived from Spain in a special convoy.
Altogether, to make up one complete tram, they weigh 64 tonnes, a measurement taken after the long 1,800km journey from Zaragoza in Spain where they were built.
The tram is 45 metres long, 2.65 metres wide and cost a total of four million euros.
The arrival in Luxembourg is the first of 21 trams and a test phase will begin several months before the official opening of the line between the Luxexpo and the Red Bridge in December this year.
The cost of the 21 trains will be close to 83 million euros.
