François Hollande may have found overall favour in France in yesterday's presidential elections but the majority of French nationals living in Luxembourg backed his rival.
According to the French embassy in Luxembourg, 60 percent of French expatriates who chose to cast their vote at the polling station at the French Vauban school, voted in favour of Nicolas Sarkozy.
Altogether, 5,614 people (59.87 percent) voted for Sarkozy compared with 3,763 (40.13 percent) backing Hollande.
Luxembourg registered a 57.81 percent turnout at its one polling station, considerably higher than that registered during the first round of elections. The total French votership in Luxembourg was 16,699 with 9,654 votes cast.
