(CS) Luxembourg City is turning into winter wonderland, with an ice rink now open on Place Guillaume II in addition to the Christmas markets on Place d'Armes and Place de la Constitution.
The “Knuedler on Ice” rink opened on Saturday morning and will remain open until February 1. With the majority of the 500 square metre rink covered under a marquis even bad weather cannot stop the fun.
Some 20,000 LED lights inside add to the festive atmosphere. Skates are available for rent.
Even if you do not want to head out on to the ice, the rink offers a heated tent and six chalets with snacks and mulled wine to keep warm.
On New Year's Eve the ice rink will be open late from 11am until 1am with a programme of events planned for the night.
Entry is four euros with skates available for 2.50 euros. A locker to leave valuables is for rent at 0.50 euros. Skaters need to wear gloves on the ice.
The ice rink is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 11pm and from Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 9pm. On December 24, the ice rink will close at 5pm. On Christmas Day, opening hours are 2pm to 10pm, with the rink open from 11am to 11pm on Boxing Day.
