Goldrake is Dracula
Traditionally, magicians are supposed to disappear in a puff of smoke. Not so for Luxembourg's biggest magical export David Goldrake.
After touring the world for the last four years, the illusionist is making his come back in the Grand Duchy where he hopes to take his career in a different direction, dabbling with radio and theatre.
Starting tomorrow (Thursday, October 20), from 9am to 10am the Golden Mandrake winner will present a weekly radio show on Eldoradio, called Magical Experiences.
"This form of entertainment has never been presented to Luxembourg!” explained David, adding: “I want to show that magic is strong enough to touch people, even if they are in a different place."
At the same time, the illusionist will take his first steps treading the boards in the Théâtre de la Ville d'Esch, playing one of the most famous villains of all-time, Dracula.
In the play, which will be performed in March 2012, Goldrake is to play the famous vampire creation of Bram Stoker, interpreting the drama in four languages with six other cast members.
Goldrake has spent the last four years focusing on his international career. He said that his decision to return to Luxembourg, from his previous base in Cologne, was motivated by a desire to “recharge his batteries” and focus on new projects at home.
The illusionist has no plans to retire from his traditional magic shows and, starting this December, he will hold an evening show each month called Secret Sessions at the Sofitel Luxembourg. Guests can enjoy a special menu while being dazzled by Goldrake's magical feats.
He will then perform in Hollywood's Magic Castle before setting off on his 2012 European Tour.
