Guillaume and Stéphanie join the Family
(CS) Prince Guillaume and Princess Stéphanie were in Clervaux on Friday afternoon for the festive opening of the restored Family of Man exhibition, curated in the 1950s by Luxembourg-born artist Edward Steichen.
The visit to Clervaux formed part of the couple's tour of the Grand Duchy's regional “Centres de Développement et d'Attraction” (CDA). In total, the Guillaume and Stéphanie plan to visit 15 centres before the end of the year. The visit to Clervaux marked the seventh stop on their tour, after trips to Mersch, Vianden, Echternach, Rédange/Attert, Dudelange and Esch/Alzette.
The visit of the couple began in Marnach at the Cube521 cultural venue, from where Guillaume and Stéphanie headed to Clervaux, where they were greeted by hundreds of waiting royal family fans as they made their way through the town to the market square.
The visit closed with a tour of the Family of Man exhibition, where they were joined by Culture Minister Octavie Modert and Jean Back, director of the national audiovisual centre CNA. Also among the guests of honour for the opening of the exhibition were US Ambassador to Luxembourg Robert A. Mandell, government ministers Martine Hansen and Marco Schank, as well as Maria Calderone and Ariana Stahmer, Steichen's grand-daughter and great-grand-daughter, respectively.
